Yesterday

The day started bright and early with a 6am departure time, much to the disappointment of Kyle. The task for the day included removing the old shingles from the roof and replacing them with new ones. With a day of roofing experience under our belts, we completed the task with much time to spare. After leaving the worksite, we made a stop at a gas station to pick up some drinks, including the beloved Ale8, a soft drink originally created in Kentucky. After returning to the church, the boys in the group decided to get a lift in at the local community center. Dinner was a traditional Kentucky-style meal that consisted of soup beans, cornbread, potatoes, and macaroni with tomato sauce. We finished off the night with a quick Dairy Queen blizzard stop and a few rounds of our favorite card game, Mao.
