Hi, my name is Caroline Driskell and I was in group B. I am a graduated senior; this is my sixth mission trip with GCC and my second mission trip to Hazard. Today my group worked with the contractors to survey the lot and build the foundation for what will eventually be a new home in an area that has not had new developments for ten years. As the contractors dug out dirt to create the foundation, we helped make sure that everything was level, then we added reinforcements and helped spread concrete. One of the best parts of our day was talking to the contractors at our worksite and getting to know each other. The contractors were even nice enough to let us try using the backhoe during our down time, which almost made up for our 5:15 am wake up. All in all, we had a good first day and we feel ready to take on the rest of the week!
